Rumor Player Trades

So now with the draft two days away big names are being rumored to be traded. Here are some names I am hearing. I will look at where they maybe traded and how the trade may impact the draft.

1. Albert Haynesworth: Since Mike Shanahan was hired and since Haynesworth has not reported to offseason training many saw this coming. Add in Haynesworth has not played in a 3-4 and a trade is likely. The two teams most interested in him are the Titans and Lions. This makes sense since the Titans missed Haynesworth last year. The Lions make sense too because Jim Schwartz was his defensive coordinator in Tennessee and Haynesworth played well for him. Also the Lions maybe leaning towards taking Russell Okung and if that is true they do need defensive linemen.

2. Osi Umenyiora: The Giants are looking to move Osi after a disappointing season and one in which Osi might have spoken his way out of New York. His old coach Steve Spagnola is interested in him. The Rams may give up the 33rd pick in the draft for Osi. If true the Giants would do that deal in a heartbeat. Other teams have expressed interests in the pass rush specialists so it will be interesting to see where he may go and for what.

3. Alan Fanaca, Shaun Ellis and Bryan Thomas: All three are Jet veteran players who are aging. Some reports say they Jets are looking to trade them and if they can not they will release them after the draft. Ellis and Fanaca is a surprise because they are character players liked in the locker room. Also both played well last year and can still contribute. As for Thomas if the Jets sign Jason Taylor he would be the most effected player. So the Jets looking to move him makes sense.

4. Ronnie Brown: This one makes no sense to me. Ronnie Brown is the best back on the Dolphins and without him I believe the offense will suffer. Brown did have a DUI this offseason and probably has an impending suspension. Maybe because of this Bill Parcells is looking to get rid of him.

5. Marshawn Lynch: Lynch being traded is no surprise. Last year when he was suspended for a weapons offense Freddy Jackson filled in for him nicely. When he returned he did not seem to get back into the mix and had a subpar year. A fresh start for Lynch maybe the best thing for both teams.

I will continue to update this list as I hear more information.
